1/2" to 1" pipes are usually supplied with both ends square cut. Larger sizes within the National Plastic range are supplied
with a plain socket for solvent welding or with a rubber ring socket for push fit jointing. The internal dimensions of both types
of socketed joints are to BS 4346.
Rubber rings supplied with National Plastic pipes are the FORSHEDA F578 made in Europe from SBR or EPDM best quality rubber which conforms
to the requirements of BS 2494. The F578 seal is a combined lip and compression seal which is locked inside the pipe socket. A retaining ring holds
the sealing ring in position during transport and assembly. The front lip prevents dirt on the spigot from entering the joint.
Pipe Length
The standard overall pipe length is 6 meters. For plain-ended pipes, the effective length corresponds to the overall length. For pipes with an
integrally formed rubber ring joint or solvent cement joint, the effective length excludes the length of the socket. When pipes are shipped in 20ft or 40ft
containers, an overall length of 5.8 meters is more economical to transport.
